Heather Heron
I am a compassionate, values‑driven leader, educator, and consultant with more than 25 years of experience in community health and social services. My work spans supportive housing, harm reduction, outreach, and intensive community case management, all grounded in trauma‑informed, intersectional, and person-centered practice.
My leadership experience spans operational to director‑level roles in both local and international contexts. I have managed the delivery of 10 simultaneous residential programs in downtown Toronto, supported transitions as an interim executive director, and launched first of their kind initiatives that both achieved and exceeded the objectives of funders and the broader community. I have also taught in social Service Work programs at the collegiate level and provided crisis debriefing and post incident support with Toronto Police Victim Services.
My consulting roles have included complex projects focused on developing operational guidelines for dynamic supportive programs. My work integrates standards of care, legislative requirements, and trauma‑informed values to foster both regulatory compliance and compassionate service delivery. I have also assisted local and national organizations in embedding trauma‑informed safety principles, including psychological safety, within their team and organizational cultures.
As an educator, I have taught in the Social Service Work program at Seneca College and contributed to speaking engagements with Memorial University and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I have also designed and facilitated training for frontline staff, supervisors, and leadership teams across social service agencies, focusing on trauma-informed practice, workplace safety, team dynamics, and program implementation. Internationally, over the course of 5 years, I have facilitated education on sexual health and group dynamics in Kingston, Jamaica. My teaching and consulting emphasize team cohesion and the creation of workplace cultures grounded in clarity, equity, care, and reflective practice.
Deeply committed to supporting frontline workers, leaders, and community advocates, I am passionate about helping both individuals and organizations deepen skills, align with values, and build meaningful, sustainable practices that support growth to their full potential.
